(2004)

"100 Years" is the first single from the album The Battle for Everything released by Five for Fighting (John Ondrasik) in 2004.

The song is about a man who is 99 years old, about to turn 100, that is on his deathbed. He looks back at his life to see whether he really "lived" it or not. The song's main theme is to never take life for granted, and all of the time we have on Earth is right now, so we should make the most of it.

In December 2004, on the Billboard Hot 100 end-of-the-year music chart, "100 Years" was ranked at #77 for the year. 100 Years was also the longest running #1 single of the year on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, staying at #1 for 12 weeks. It was the second-longest run at #1 in that chart's history, behind "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker in 2003, which lasted 28 weeks at #1. The music video for "100 Years" placed at #32 on VH1's Top 40 Music Video Countdown of 2004, spending 18 weeks on VH1's weekly Top 20 countdown.
