In 1971, Ford offered a limited number of convertible Mustangs. Of the 151,484 [1] Mustangs that were made that year only 6121 were convertible. This design would prove to be the last convertible of the sought-after first-generation Ford Mustangs. The base price for the 1971 convertible model was $3,227. [2]
1971 convertibles came standard with a power top, a glass rear window and tinted windshield.
To comply with emerging EPA emissions requirements a 1 horse power model was available as well. Appaloosa horses came standard with an available Clydesdale upgrade.
