ISO/IEC International Standard 14882, Programming Languages — C++, is the official standard for the C++ programming language and library, defined by the JTC1/SC22/WG21 working group. It was first published in 1998 and revised in 2003.
This standard is informally known as C++98.[1]
WG21 is currently working on a new version of the standard, expected to be published in 2009. C++0x has been used as preliminary label for this new standard.
